The host's business comes first.
Your name and logo lead, your guests book with you, and your rules and prices are yours. Threshold is the connection behind your business, not a marketplace in front of it.
Our mission
To give every independent host a direct line to their guests as travel moves to AI assistants, at close to no cost.
More travelers now ask an assistant to find and book their stay. Today that assistant can only book through the big booking sites, so the host pays the fee and the site keeps the guest. Threshold exists so that the people who own and look after vacation homes keep the relationship with their guests, and most of what those guests pay.
What we hold to
Close to free, because it can be.
Software costs a fraction of what it did a few years ago to build and run. What hosts and guests pay should reflect that, so there is no guest service fee and setting up costs nothing.
Nothing that locks you in.
Keep your listings on Airbnb, Vrbo and Booking.com, and keep your own website. Use your own web address if you have one. We publish in open formats any assistant can read, not one company's.
Say only what's true.
We don't promise bookings, and we say plainly that this is early. Listings are checked by a person before they go live, so an assistant can trust what it tells a traveler.
A person answers.
Questions and disputes are read and answered by a person. The AI on this site is labeled as AI and can't change anything on your account.
Why I'm building Threshold
I believe AI is sharply lowering the barriers to entry in many industries, and in software most of all. Building and running a booking service costs a fraction of what it did a few years ago.
That means services like Airbnb and Vrbo should be much cheaper for the hosts and guests who use them.
Threshold is my experiment to show it can be done: a nearly free alternative to the big booking sites, where travelers' AI assistants book directly with hosts. It's early. Please join me in this effort.
