Use Threshold with your AI assistant
Threshold lists independent vacation rentals whose hosts are checked by a person. Connect your assistant and it can search them, answer detailed questions about a place, price your dates, and send a booking request directly to the host. No guest service fee.
Connect it
Threshold is a connector (a remote MCP server). You don't need a Threshold account, and there is nothing to sign in to.

- Claude: Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector. Name it Threshold, paste the address above, and leave the sign-in fields empty.
- ChatGPT: Settings → Apps & Connectors → add a connector with the address above, with authentication set to none. Custom connectors may need developer mode turned on in the same settings.
- Other assistants: anywhere that accepts a remote MCP server address, paste the same one.
Then start a new chat and ask for a place to stay. Building your own agent? See the developer page.
Things to ask
- “Find a place in Delray Beach, Florida for October 23–26, two adults and a dog.”
- “Does that house have a bedroom on the entry level, and how fast is the Wi-Fi?”
- “What would it cost in total for those dates, and what's the cancellation policy?”
- “Ask the host whether we can check in at noon.”
- “Request to book it for me. My name is Alex Morgan and my email is alex@example.com.”
- “Has the host answered my request yet?”
What your assistant can do
- Search and compare places by location, dates, party and amenities, and read each listing's full details and house rules.
- Check dates and price them. A quote is the exact total, with taxes and fees itemized, and the cancellation refund schedule.
- Ask the host a question before you book, and pass messages back and forth afterwards.
- Send a booking request once you've agreed to the house rules, check its status, and cancel it if you ask (it shows you the refund first).
Paying
Your assistant never sees or handles your card. When a place takes payment through Threshold, the assistant gives you a link to a secure payment page (run by Stripe) where you add your card yourself within 60 minutes. Depending on the listing, the card is charged when the host accepts or on a later date shown in the quote. Some hosts collect payment themselves; the quote says which applies.
What is shared
Searching sends only what you ask for: place, dates, party size and preferences. To send a booking request or a message, your assistant passes your name and email (and phone number, if you give one) so the host can reach you; it should only do that when you ask it to book. Threshold doesn't read your conversation or anything else in your assistant. Details are in the Privacy Policy and Terms; refunds are covered in Cancellations.
If something doesn't work
- No places found: Threshold is new, and many areas have no listings yet. Try a wider area or different dates.
- The quote expired or changed: prices are only held for a short time. Ask for a new quote for the same dates.
- The payment link stopped working: dates are held for 60 minutes. Ask your assistant to request the booking again.
- “Too many requests”: wait a minute and try again.
- Can't find your booking: give your assistant the email address the booking was made with.
Anything else, or a problem with a stay: email hello@threshold.rentals. A person replies.
